The valley floor can expect gusty north winds through the remainder of Tuesday. Locally, some gusts could approach 35 mph.
A trough of low pressure is digging south into the Great Basin. Currently the low is centered over Eastern Oregon, Idaho. Since the Northstate is on the western side of this trough, we are experiencing cooler than normal highs and gusty north winds.
The trough will lift northeast the next couple of days, allowing for a ridge of high pressure to build in from out of the west.
This will increase our highs to the low to mid 90s Wednesday and a little bit warmer Thursday.
Another trough will move in Friday night into Saturday, ending our warming trend and likely dropping the Northstate's highs closer to the low 90s Saturday.
