Clouds will start to move in this afternoon with the threat of showers down to the valley floor by this evening.  A stronger cold front will move in by Thursday.

Clouds will continue to increase throughout the day today from out of the west.  Scattered showers will begin to move into Trinity county by the late afternoon hours with a slight chance of some showers down to the valley floor by this evening and tonight.

This weak disturbance will just be a warm up for the stronger cold front that will move into the Northstate by Thursday evening.  This cold front will bring gusty winds and pockets of moderate rain.

Behind the cold front into Friday morning colder air will begin to spill into the Northstate.  This cold air will both drop snow levels and help to destabilize the atmosphere.  With the cold pool aloft directly overhead Friday afternoon, thunderstorms and convective showers will be a concern.  Considering how cold the air will be, hail and graupel will be the primary concern.

Lingering showers will stick around into the weekend before a ridge of high pressure builds in Sunday evening into next Monday and Tuesday.
