The valley will warm back up to the mid to upper 70s today before the rain moves in Tuesday.  Expect widespread rain as early as the Tuesday morning commute.

Highs on Tuesday will struggle to make it out of the 50s as rain moves in overnight.  Rain will start to fall in Weaverville and Hayfork around 5am and will start to fall in the valley around 6-7am.  That first batch of rain will move out by late morning allowing for some sunshine to peak out around noon and into the early afternoon.  After that another batch of rain moves in just in time for the evening commute.  That round of rain is just the beginning…Wednesday will bring even more rain which will be more widespread.  In addition snow levels will fall going into Wednesday morning right with the bulk of the precipitation.  Snow levels will fall to near 4,500 feet with around 14” possible above 5,500 ft and two feet possible above 6,000 feet.  Most of the heaviest snow will fall on Mt. Shasta, the Trinity Alps and in Lassen NP, but some mountain communities – like Vina and Chester – could see some accumulations.

The rest of the week will be a wet and cool one.  Temperatures will fall into the mid 60s the rest of the week and we’ll have the threat of showers pretty much every day this week.  There are several other systems coming in to follow which will keep things nice cool and wet through the next weekend.  By then models are hinting at another atmospheric river event to hit the NorthState.
