Trinity and Siskiyou County are under Red Flag Warnings today, for the threat of thunderstorms and dry lightning and gusty winds associated with them.

An upper level cut-off low is diving in from out of the north today.  The low will be centered just along or offshore of the Northcoast this afternoon.  This combined with daytime heating may lead to thunderstorms in the mountains to the north, northwest.

Mid level moisture is fairly low compared to recent thunderstorms outbreaks, so thunderstorms may be a little drier than what we've seen over the last 3-4 weeks.

The low will drop south by tomorrow but due to the overall troughiness of the upper levels we may see a few more thunderstorms develop in the mountains, Tuesday afternoon and evening.

Forecast model confidence quickly drops off through the second half of the week.  Overall the pattern suggests a northwest flow aloft, with the Northstate on the transition area.  There will be a trough to our east and a ridge of high pressure to our west.  Any disturbance that rides the northwest flow would likely bring breezy north winds to the Northstate.  Also if that ridge is able to slide in from the west, expect warmer temperatures to return by the weekend.
