Valley and mountain highs on Sunday will be similar to what we saw Saturday afternoon. The northern tip of the valley will once again warm to the upper 90s.
A weak ridge will remain in place long enough Sunday to warm most of the valley back up to the mid to upper 90s. A trough will move in by Monday to help cool off the Northstate and allow for a few mountain thunderstorms in the afternoon.
This trough will quickly move east, northeast by Tuesday and allow for a stronger ridge of high pressure to move in. Expect highs near 100 degrees Tuesday-Thursday with best chances for triple digits on Wednesday.
We'll have to continue to watch the tropics by Friday and Saturday of next week. Models continue to hint at the tropical remnants of Marie move close to the Northstate, with enough moisture for showers and thunderstorms.
