No big surprises on Friday with highs once again reaching the mid 90s for most of us in the valley making for another warm day. We expect more of the same over the weekend, in fact, it may even be a little warmer with highs getting close to 100 degrees by Sunday. The first day of summer officially arrives Saturday and it will feel like it with highs in the mid 90s under sunny skies.
The peak of the warming trend will be on Monday with a few places reaching the triple digit mark. It will still be hot on Tuesday and Wednesday with highs in the mod to upper 90s.
The long range forecast models diverge after Wednesday of next week. The American forecast model (GFS) is giving us a chance for isolated showers and even thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday mainly in the mountains but places like Redding could see some activity as well. The European forecast model (ECMWF) is keeping us dry and warmer. For now we'll go with partly cloudy skies and warm conditions for late next week and keep a close eye on things.
