It was another hot and sunny day in the Northstate with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the mountains.  We expect more of the same at least through the first part of the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 90s in the valley and isolated showers and thunderstorms in the mountains.

We are tracking a weak area of low pressure expected to develop just off the coast by Sunday.  It is expected to tap into some monsoon moisture and could give us a chance for showers and thunderstorms for both the mountains and valley.  The American forecast model (GFS) and European model disagree on the exact path of this area of low pressure.  The GFS wants to take it to our south while the European model wants to push it right through Northern California.  Obviously the confidence is still low on the exact path of this low but we'll keep watching this pattern very closely.

By Tuesday of next week high pressure is expected to build back over the Northstate with the return of the 90s and triple digits in the valley.
